Interdisciplinary Masters of Arts

An interdisciplinary Master of Arts degree with an emphasis in Educational and Community Renewal is offered through the Graduate College’s interdisciplinary program. The degree consists of a 36 hour non-thesis program and focuses on successful ways to better meet the needs of children and families through interactive, action-oriented partnerships among businesses, schools, families, universities, community organizations and governmental agencies. The degree emphasizes improving schools and communities through:

  • examining conceptual and practical models of high achieving schools and communities
  • integrating technology to enhance school and community development
  • developing partnerships and practicing collaborative leadership for schools and communities
  • designing, implementing and assessing a school and community renewal project.

The goal is to connect, support, and educate change-makers as they are engaged in the process of educational and community renewal.

The interdisciplinary emphasis in educational and community renewal highlights theory, research and practice intended to develop educational and community leaders who enhance the ability of students to learn, teachers to teach, and schools and communities to work together to foster high achieving schools and communities. We accomplish this emphasis through web-based and other cutting-edge technologies designed to enhance working and learning together within and across schools, communities, and educational systems.
