Winter Institute

At the K20 Center’s Winter Institutes, educators who are transforming their schools and districts into high performing technology-rich professional learning communities come together to learn and share. Sessions highlight the K20 Center’s network of schools and districts through the following OK-ACTS systemic change initiatives:

  • Phase I: Technology Leadership Seminars (Superintendents, Principals, Technology Directors, and District Level Administrators)
  • Phase II: OETT Technology Grants to Schools Program (Administrators and Teachers)
  • Phase III: Science PDI Schools, Biotech Schools, REESE Projects (KREST Institute and PIC Workshop), International Networks for Democratic Education (INDE), K20 Alt Project (Administrators and Teachers)
  • Phase IV: STAR Schools Project
  • K20 Graduate Programs: Interdisciplinary Master of Arts Program and Doctoral Cohort in Educational Administration, Curriculum, and Supervision (EACS)

2008 Winter Institute

  • Date: Thursday, January 31
  • Time: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Location: The University of Oklahoma Memorial Union (900 Asp Avenue, Norman) Map to the Union
  • Parking: Park at Lloyd Noble Center on south Jenkins (north of Highway 9). Shuttles will transport attendees to the Union every 10 minutes. Map to Lloyd Noble

Nancy O’Brian Lecture Series: Alan November - Teacher and senior partner of November Learning, Alan is noted for challenging educators’ thoughts about possibilities in the world of teaching and learning that can be opened up through the use of technology.

Breakout Sessions: Sessions feature Oklahoma educators and administrators from the OK-ACTS network sharing ideas and successes encountered in the process of creating technology-rich learning communities at the university, school, and community levels. Registration

  • Registration to attend the Winter Institute opens November 12th. The registration form can be accessed from this link: WI Registration
  • Registration is $25 for individuals and $50 for school teams of three. Representatives from OK-ACTS Phase II, III, and IV programs (see the Phase descriptions at the top of this page) may attend for free. Luncheon is included with registration.
  • A late fee of $10 will be charged to anyone who registers after January 25th so don’t delay!

2008 Pre-Institute The annual Pre-Institute will be held on Wednesday, January 30 from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM at the J.D. McCarty Center in Norman. The Pre-Institute involves teams of teachers and administrators from 2007 Phase II grant schools, Science PDI schools, and Ardmore Science schools. Administrators may access the application for the Pre-Institute here.
