Phase 3: Teachers Learning
For students to receive interactive instruction that engages them in authentic intellectual work, teachers must learn new teaching methods and acquire additional subject matter knowledge as well. Phase 3 programs combine strategies linked to accelerating and supporting change from didactic to interactive pedagogy. Specifically, these programs seek to (a) deepen content knowledge and comfort with inquiry-based teaching; (b) transfer and sustain teachers’ new learning into daily classroom practices; and (c) create professional learning communities that provide meaningful learning experiences for teachers and their students.
